Whether you are on holiday or staying longer it is good to be aware of the following
Important information & guidelines in aid if the community of stray animals in Morocco
YOUNG KITTEN OR PUPPY ALONE
Please note that mothers of young animals can be away from them for quite some time looking for food or moving them from one place to another
DO NOT MOVE THE ANIMAL unless the animal is in immediate danger – for example in the road etc.
If it is absolutely necessary to move the animal try to find a SAFE PLACE AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE & follow these steps:
Monitor for 24 hours to check if the mother returns
Give food, water, shelter (box, blanket) whilst monitoring
Keep handling to a minimum during this time – DO NOT TOUCH unless necessary
If no mother returns within 24hrs the animal can be moved & given help for a longer term solution
EMERGENCY SUPPORT
When finding a street animal suspected poisoning, injured, sick or deceased
Please take the appropriate following steps:
DO NOT TOUCH WITH BARE HANDS OR SMELL AS POISON CAN BE ABSORBED THROUGH SKIN & INHALED
* Take a video and/or photos
* Note any visible injuries or symptoms
* Check for suspicious items in the area
* Note the exact location
* Note the time
* Check if other dogs in the area effected or missing
* Talk to local residents & shop owners etc.
* Ask to view CCTV
If the animal is still alive & suspected of being poisoned see veterinary help as soon as possible
